I have a 91 325ix with 219k, i get a weird shaking at exactly 50mph while crusing. I also have a clunking when going straight over bumps from only the passenger side, it seems to not clunk while i am slightly over bumps with the brakes on, but i dont know if that is true or not.

The ride from the coils are nice I must say, with it on fully soft it feels close to stock. Sounds like what you are describing is axle end play. Normal in this set up as the axles are held in by a heavy c clip and axles will move laterally when you shoe the rear wheel aggressively and give a clunk sound. If you have a hitch installed in the receiver it will also clunk over bumps. Going over bumps, sounds like something is loose or metal on metal contact. I looked under there and can't find anything loose. Is this a classic symptom of maybe a bad trans mount? Seems like it's coming under the floor. Or bad king pins? I grabbed the wheel and it all seems tight. Motor mounts?
I have some clunking in the front passenger side wheel that I cannot find. Everything seems tight on the wheel, it isn't anything obvious like a ball joint or tie rod end. I suspected the classic problem of the upper strut mount/spring seat, but I just replaced them and that was not the issue; the clunk is still there.

My observation after changing the bushings was that when I was cornering I was twisting the sway bar which cocking it in the bushing.
